Dr Mark Safe

Mark is a Paediatric Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist at the Royal Children’s Hospital and works in all areas of gut and liver disease for infants, children and young people of all ages. He is the clinical lead for Gut Motility and Functional Gut Disorders and has particular experience and interest in Adolescent Medicine. He has extensive experience in Paediatric endoscopy and is accredited by the Conjoint Committee for Recognition of Training in Gastroenterological Endoscopy (CCRTGE).

Mark grew up in the United Kingdom and moved to Melbourne as a teenager to complete his schooling. He graduated from Monash University with first class honours and trained at Monash and the Royal Children’s Hospitals including a position as Deputy Chief Resident. He then underwent advanced training in Gastroenterology at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne and Sydney Children’s Hospital. After fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, he was awarded travelling scholarships to undertake an 18-month sub-specialist clinical fellowship at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London, where he gained advanced skills in gut motility and functional gut disorders.

When not working at the hospital at PGV or in endoscopy, Mark enjoys time by the beach near his home, cycling and cooking up a storm with what he grows in the garden.

Katie Clifton is a Paediatric Dietitian who has had extensive experience working in paediatric nutrition in Australia and abroad. She has had more than a decade of experience working at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, specialising in gastroenterology, hepatology and intensive care nutrition. Katie has a Masters in Nutrition and Dietetics from Deakin University, and a Certificate in Paediatric Dietetics (RCH). She has also worked in Aboriginal child health in the Northern Territory, and spent several years in the UK employed in community child nutrition, and at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Katie has a long held passion for childhood nutrition from birth through to adolescence. She is inspired by the vital role diet can play when managing gastrointestinal conditions, and is committed to providing practical nutrition care for children and their families.

Katie’s nutrition expertise also extends to providing compassionate care to breastfeeding mothers and their babies. She is a qualified Lactation Consultant, and a volunteer Breastfeeding Counsellor with the Australian Breastfeeding Association. She is also kept busy as a mother of three energetic, young boys.

Dr Jeremy Rosenbaum

Dr Jeremy Rosenbaum (MBBS (Hons) FRACP, Paediatric Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist).

Dr Jeremy Rosenbaum is a consultant Paediatric Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist working at The Royal Children’s Hospital and in private practice. He is also clinical lead of endoscopy services at The Royal Children’s Hospital and an honorary research fellow at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute.

He graduated from Monash University with Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery with Honours (MBBS, Hons) and then trained at The Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne. His additional postgraduate training includes a Clinical Academic Fellowship in Paediatric Inflammatory Bowel Diseases at The Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, Canada.

Jeremy is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) and is an RACP college supervisor for advanced trainees. He is a current member of the Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA) and accredited to perform paediatric gastroscopy, colonoscopy and capsule endoscopy.

In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Jeremy is also a committee member on the Victorian Medical Council for Safer Care Victoria, the Private Practice Network of GESA and the Australia and New Zealand Gastroenterology International Training Association (ANZGITA).
