Elisa Donath

Elisa is an experienced pelvic health physiotherapist with a special interest in paediatric continence. She completed her Bachelor of Physiotherapy at LaTrobe University and went on to complete her Post Graduate Certificate in Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy at the University of Melbourne in 2010.

Elisa is passionate about helping children and adolescents, together with their families, to overcome their continence challenges. She works collaboratively with families, with an emphasis on tailored, goal orientated strategies to support them along their continence journey.

Elisa also holds a public position as a Senior Physiotherapist at the Monash Children’s Paediatric Continence Clinic and works at Continence 4 kids in Armadale (www.continence4kids.com.au).

Outside of work, Elisa enjoys spending time with her 3 children and playing the piano.

Dr Anell Meyer

Dr Anell Meyer

Anell is an experienced paediatric gastroenterologist working at the Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne.

She is dedicated to providing comprehensive and compassionate care for children with gastrointestinal disorders. With over 10 years of experience, Anell specializes in diagnosing and treating a wide range of conditions, including chronic abdominal pain, inflammatory bowel disease, celiac disease, gastro-esophageal reflux, liver and pancreatic conditions.

Anell earned her medical degree from the University of the Free State, South Africa. She completed a residency in paediatrics followed by a fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Clinical Nutrition at the University of Pretoria, South Africa. She was awarded the Nestle Nutrition Institute training fellowship in 2012-2013 and completed a fellowship in Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Clinical Nutrition at the Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne. Anell is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) as well as the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa(CMSA).

Committed to staying at the forefront of medical advancements, Anell regularly participates in continuing medical education and clinical research. She completed a master’s degree in Pediatrics in 2012. As a clinical research associate at the Murdoch Children’s Research Insititute (MCRI), she has had multiple publications in her field in international peer-reviewed journals and frequently present at national and international medical conferences.

Known for a patient-centered approach, Anell collaborates closely with families to create personalized treatment plans that promote optimal health and wellbeing for each child.

Dr Shaun Ho

Shaun Ho

Shaun is a consultant Paediatric Gastroenterologist who works at the Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne. He also consults at the Paediatric Gastroenterology Victoria and performs private endoscopy at the Epworth Hospital in Richmond.

Shaun graduated from Monash University and completed his specialist training in Paediatric Gastroenterology and General Paediatrics. He gained national and international experience in some of the busiest centres, including the Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne and the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto, Canada.

Shaun cares for the well-being of babies from birth through to late adolescence. He specialises in all aspects of the gut and liver. He has special interests in coeliac disease and inflammatory bowel disease. This has led to his pursuit PhD research in finding novel non-invasive ways to assess disease in coeliac disease and in inflammatory bowel disease. He was awarded his PhD in 2022 by the University of Otago, New Zealand. He continues to be actively involved in research and teaches medical students at the University of Melbourne.

Shaun is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) and a member of the Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA). He is fully accredited to perform paediatric endoscopy by the Conjoint Committee for Recognition of Training in Gastroenterological Endoscopy (CCRTGE).

Kristyn Ford

Kristyn Ford

Kristyn Ford is a Paediatric Dietitian who has had extensive experience working in paediatric nutrition in Australia. She has a Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics from Monash University, a Certificate in Paediatric Dietetics (RCH) and is an Accredited Practicing Dietitian (APD). Kristyn has just under 20 years’ experience working at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, specialising in a wide range of clinical conditions. She has also had worked in private practice providing practical nutrition advice to children and adolescents with food intolerances, allergies, gastrointestinal conditions, poor growth, obesity and fussy eating.

Kristyn has a passion for childhood nutrition from birth through to adolescence and is committed to working collaboratively with children and their families to provide practical advice to address their specific nutritional needs.  When not at work, Kristyn is kept busy with her two young girls and crazy border collie dogs.

 

Dr Eric Cheah

Dr Eric Cheah is a consultant Paediatric Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist. He holds a public appointment at the Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne and an Honorary appointment at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead, NSW. He has private admitting rights at the Cabrini Hospital, Malvern.

Eric graduated in Medicine from the University of Melbourne where he also obtained Honours in the Bachelor of Medical Science. He commenced paediatric training through the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, before completing specialist training in Paediatric Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead in 2014. He was a Research Fellow with the James Fairfax Institute of Paediatric Nutrition, the University of Sydney and also completed an Advanced Clinical Fellowship in Inflammatory Bowel Disease at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto, Canada.
Eric manages newborns to adolescents with gastrointestinal complaints including abdominal pain, disorders of the gut brain interaction/functional gastrointestinal disorders, coeliac disease, constipation, diarrhoea, eosinophilic oesophagitis, gastro-oesophageal reflux disease, liver disease and faltering growth with a special interest in inflammatory bowel disease.

Dr Eric is a firm believer in a holistic approach. He is committed to providing evidence based, patient centred care whilst working closely with referring doctors and allied health practitioners. Eric values the importance of communication and takes the time to sensitively explain medical conditions and treatments which at times may be complex to ensure families are well supported.

He is accredited to perform paediatric gastroscopy and colonoscopy by The Conjoint Committee for the Recognition of Training in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (CCRTGE). He is currently pursuing point of care intestinal ultrasound training for the management of children with Inflammatory Bowel Disease through the Intestinal Bowel Ultrasound (IBUS) group and The Gastroenterology Network of Intestinal Ultrasound (GENIUS), Australia.

Outside of work, Eric has pet rabbits, loves travelling and is an avid tennis player.

Elise McJannet

Elise McJannet is a paediatric dietitian who has extensive experience working with children of all ages to manage their nutritional needs. Elise has been working at the Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) for over 6 years, and prior to this worked at the Childrens Hospital at Westmead. Elise holds a Master of Dietetics from Deakin University, and a Certificate in Paediatric Nutrition (RCH). Elise has worked across a range of clinical areas including oncology, cystic fibrosis, cardiology, special care nursery, adolescents/eating disorders and home enteral nutrition. Elise also has previous experience in private practice working with children with gastrointestinal conditions (including Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Coeliac Disease), food intolerances, allergies, poor growth, obesity and fussy eating.

Elise is passionate about working together with children, adolescents and their families to provide practical advice and support to address their specific nutritional issues.

In her spare time Elise loves cooking, spending time outdoors and is kept very busy with her two young girls!

Sarah Henderson

Sarah Henderson is a Pelvic Health Physiotherapist specialising in paediatric continence. She graduated with a Masters degree in Physiotherapy and Bachelor of Exercise Science from Griffith University and has since completed a Graduate Certificate in Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy at University of Melbourne.

Sarah has worked in the areas of musculoskeletal, sports, pelvic health and paediatrics and is passionate about providing collaborative care with children and their families, to help support their continence journey.

She is highly skilled in the assessment and management of pelvic health conditions in children including bladder dysfunction, bowel dysfunction, toileting challenges, pelvic floor dysfunction and pelvic pain conditions.

Sarah lectures on paediatric continence at Deakin University and the University of Melbourne and  continues to complete her Masters Degree in Pelvic Health Physiotherapy.

Sarah also works in Geelong at Barwon Kids (www.barwonkids.au) where she helps children and families manage their pelvic health/continence challenges.

Leia West

Leia joined the team in April 2021 bringing with her an extensive experience in medical reception. Leia endeavours to make the experience as seamless as possible for all.

Hailing from the South Coast of NSW, she enjoys spending her free time in the outdoors. Whether it be swimming, walking, or playing footy for her local team. Her other interests include, baking, traveling, and dancing.

Dr Kathleen McGrath

Kathleen is a Paediatric Gastroenterologist at the Royal Children’s Hospital. She specialises in all areas of gastrointestinal and liver disease in infants and children and has special interest in the management of intestinal failure, complex nutritional problems and food allergy.

Kathleen graduated from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery (Honours). She undertook her paediatric training at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne during which time she held the role of Chief Resident Medical Officer. She completed dual advanced training in Gastroenterology and General Paediatrics and following the award of fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, she undertook further post-fellowship gastroenterology training focussed on intestinal failure and clinical nutrition at Birmingham Children’s Hospital in the United Kingdom. She has had multiple publications in her field in international peer-reviewed journals and is accredited to perform paediatric gastroscopy and colonoscopy by the Conjoint Committee for Recognition of Training in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.

Kathleen has a strong interest in medical education and training. She completed a Graduate Diploma in Clinical Education at the University of Melbourne and is actively involved in teaching, supervision and learning assessment for junior doctors and medical students.

Kathleen values the importance of strong communication and listening and strives to provide her patients with personalised care through a family centred approach.

Dr Jason Yap

Dr Jason Yap is an experienced Paediatric Gastroenterologist. He completed his medical school in Auckland, New Zealand and his gastroenterology training in New Zealand and Australia. He went on to further develop his gastroenterology skills at the world renowned institution, The Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, Canada. He worked in Canada for a decade as consultant Paediatric Gastroenterologist before returning down under. His special interest include clinical nutrition, intestinal failure and liver/intestinal transplantation. Dr Yap is currently appointed at The Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne as consultant Paediatric Gastroenterologist and Clinical Associate Professor, University of Melbourne.
