Laura Benn is a paediatric Dietitian with extensive experience working in paediatric nutrition with a special interest in the management of children with gastrointestinal disorders. Laura has been working at the Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) for over 4 years, working across a variety of units including Gastroenterology, Paediatric Surgery, General Medicine, Cardiology, Orthopaedics, Rehabilitation, Burns, Oncology and Home Enteral Nutrition. Prior to RCH Laura worked at Monash Health in the special care nursery and Queensland Health in general paediatrics. Laura holds a Bachelor in Nutrition and Dietetics from the Queensland University of Technology, has completed the RCH certificate in paediatric nutrition and the Monash Health Low FODMAP course. Laura is also a lecturer for the RCH paediatric nutrition course.
Laura has significant experience in managing complex gastrointestinal conditions, including: inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel disease, coeliac disease and upper and lower GI dysmotility disorders. She has experience in managing faltering growth, allergies, fussy eating, enteral feeding and nutritional issues for children with liver disease.
Outside of the office Laura enjoys being active. You’ll regularly find her on a long run around Melbourne and teaching reformer pilates!
