Dr Jim Kantidakis is a registered Psychologist and Hypnotherapist (BSc(MR), GDip(Psych), PGDip(Psych), Dip(Hypnotherapy) who specialises in the psychological treatments of Gastrointestinal disorders, including Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). Jim is a dedicated and caring professional with 15 years experience working with chronically ill patients. Jim especially enjoys working with children and adolescents, helping them better manage and cope with their illnesses, particularly those that are gut-related.
Jims training includes travelling to Manchester, UK, to undertake additional training with Prof Peter Whorwell and his IBS Hypnotherapy Unit. Prof Whorwell is a Gastroenterologist who specialises in treating functional gut disorders and is a leading expert in the United Kingdom. He developed the hypnotherapy treatment for functional gut disorders over 20 years ago.
At Paediatric Gastroenterology Victoria, Jim provides Gut-Directed Hypnotherapy treatment for digestive problems including Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Gastroparesis, and non-ulcerative dyspepsia. He also provides psychological treatment for children with gut problems to help them better cope and manage their condition, based on evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness based therapy and Acceptance and Commitment based therapy (ACT).
